Vendôme was formed in the late 1940s as a subsidiary of Coro, the American costume jewelery manufacturer. A division of Coro jewelry, Vendome was established in the 1940s but became more prominent during the 1950s and was sold by upscale retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue.

The Vendôme line of jewelry was pitched at the high end of the costume jewelrymarket and was Coro's most expensive line. Vendôme jewelry was designed to emulate French fashions of the time and was marketed to elite ladies of the time. The company was known to use the best materials and the components were hand assembled. Vendôme closed in 1979.
